Resurection Sunday and Egg-stravaganzas!

O.K. so "Egg-stravaganza" is a little over the top but I like the images it conjurs up! The boys enjoyed 3 egg hunts this year. The first was the church Easter Egg hunt at Daisy State Park the weekend before Easter. I took pics, but my digital camera wasn't working so it is on film which needs to be developed. The weather was beautiful so the boys really enjoyed the hunt and playing with the kiddos.

The second hunts took place at the boys' school Easter Parties. Zac's was in the morning and luckily the rain held off long enough for us to hunt eggs. Zac and his buddies were so cute and Ben just jumped in and had a good ole' time, especially eating Cheetos!

Poor Nate his egg hunt got rained out and they had to have it in one of the class rooms, Nate didn't see to bummed because he was excited about all of the Easter candy and loot!

The third "Egg-stravaganza" took place at Nana and Papa Doc's on the afternoon of Easter Sunday. Again, it was rainy and cold so Papa Doc and I hid eggs in the basement for the boys. They had fun finding them, especially because Papa Doc put $$ in them! Wahoo!

Our "Resurrection Sunday" was a great day. The boys were excited to see what the Easter Bunny brought them. Nate has had a lot a questions about the authenticity of the Easter Bunny and seems to be satisfied with the answers provided. Then we all got ready to go to church in the cold, pouring rain! I felt bad putting the boys in shorts but I wanted them to look cute. Nate was none to happy to wear plaid shorts, he said they looked like underwear! He is very picky about his clothes (he gets it from me). Ben had a melt down over what shoes he was going to wear... he's only 19 months! So we let him pick and he looked cute but I would've gone with the sandals! We made it to church. Ben screamed when we left him and was screaming when we came to check on him at the end of Sunday School. We decided it would be best for Tim to take him home for a nap before going to Nana's and the boys and I stayed at church. It was a good sermon and I enjoyed all of the Easter music. Most of all I loved hearing Zachy explain how the empty egg was like the empty tomb; and I loved hearing Nate explain how Jesus folded some of his linens and left them in the tomb to show he was "not done" and was coming back! Happy Late Easter to all!

P.S. Nate's memory never ceases to amaze me. He was telling me today about an event that I vaguely remember, which he remembered in great detail, that ocurred when he was probably 3! And tonight out of know where he started singing every word to "Up from the Grave He Arose" (don't know if that is the correct name of the hymn) and "Jesus Christ is Risen Today"! Wow! Two other reasons to be thankful he has been able to attend a Christian School for 3 years... it will be off to Public School next year... watch out he might try to teach his new friends a thing or two! :-)

Dog Update!

Unbenknownst (is that a word?) to Zac, our neighbor came and got the dog. She was going to keep it until she could find it a home.... she found its owner who lives down the road! All worked out and Zachy is glad Jakey is with his family!

Happy Birthday Sweet Zachy!

My baby, yes you are now four, and yes Ben is younger, but you are still my baby! Happy Birthday! Yes I know I am posting this late but it seems like we've just been celebrating non stop! Party a couple of weeks ago, party at your class, birthday dinner, cards the day after your birthday, and the list goes on! Zachy, you are such a blessing and a joy. You are your own special person, you make everyone around you laugh and smile, and it is impossible to stay angry at you for even a moment. You are so loving and tenderhearted and a free spirit! You have been a joy for 4 years now and I cannot wait to see what the next 20 years bring! I love you Zac!

For those of you who have pets and are ablsolute animal lovers, I hate to blog about this but I'm doing it to document an event in our lives. Let me explain, Tim and I like animals but we do not LOOOOOOOOVE them, meaning that it is all we can do to keep up with our three, 2-legged, animals; and neither one of us have felt that we are "called" to be pet owners (now I know most of you will not understand this, but it is simply how it is at this point in time). Anyway, as luck would have it, on Zachy's birthday, a stray showed up on our porch. He is beautiful and I really think he is someone's pet, so I'm trying to find out who might have lost this well-behaved (for the most part), four-legged friend. Anyway, Wednesday night, after Zachy blew out his candles, we asked him what he wished for and he replied a dog, with no leash, and I got one, its on the front porch! A dog for my birthday! To which I quickly replied, "Zac, that dog probably belongs to some other little boy and he has a home, and we are going to try to find it". Anyway, the next day, dog was still there and on the way out the door to school, Zachy yells, "see you after school Jakey" (followed by Nate calling him Copper - actually I haven't even looked to see if it is a boy or girl)! That day at school, in chappel, Zac asked everyone to pray for his dog Jake! His teacher Mrs. Kelly, asked me if we'd gotten a new dog and I tried to explain! Got home and he'd chewed a hole in a shirt that we'd left lying on the front porch (our fault, not used to having a dog around). That night, I had to send Tim out at least two times because the dog was barking very loudly in the middle of the night and I didn't want it to wake the boys! However, the dog did not leave, and the dog is still here.... Zac is still insisting it is his pet... and we are still insisting that it is some other little boy's... and I'm going to start trying to find his family on Monday! So Zachy, one day if you read this, know that we love you and that we know you love this dog, but you've already told us that you don't like him pooping in your yard and at this point in time... three boys is plenty of work for us... you guys peeing in the yard is enough to drive me crazy... Who knows what the future will bring. Dog lovers, forgive us, but know that at least we realize that we probably wouldn't be the best dog owners and hope we can find "Jakey" his original home or one that is an absolute dog's paradise... cause this big pup deserves the best!

All of that said, week before last was spring break and the boys and I had a blast! We went to Garvan Gardens one day and the Zoo another day. Each time it was me and the boys, and they really were excellent! I'll try to post pics of those events in the next few days! Hope everyone has a blessed Easter... my boys are excited about the Easter Bunny, but Nate is quick to remind me that Easter is about Christ and him dying on the cross! Amen, Nate! It is going to be rainy here but we will hunt eggs at Nana and Papa Doc's house after church ... won't let a little rain stop us! Happy Easter everyone!
