As evidenced by the "lack of " blog post in recent months I need to play catch up!!!!!
So, I'll start with our last "end of summer" trip, before school started, to Texarkana to visit Grandma and Grandpa O and to celebrate daddy's birthday and Grandpa's birthday! As always, we had a wonderful time and enjoyed lots of pool time, duck feeding at Spring Lake Park, and ICE CREAM! The boys always look forward to their trips to T-town! This was the last "hoo-rah" before school started!
For whatever reason, I always feel like summer ends with Labor Day and then fall begins. Although the end of August is nowhere near the first day of fall as indicated by the calendar nor does it feel like fall after Labor Day! In Arkansas the consistently cold weather doesn't begin until long after the first day of fall! Over Labor Day weekend we spent time at Lake Hamilton with our friends the McMillan's and had a blast! Six boys 9 and under between Mary and I! Love her boys and they have a precious mama and daddy! I cannot even imagine what it will be like when we all get together and they are teenagers!!!!
After Labor Day weekend, it seems like we don't really make as many trips down to the river, even though it is still HOT!!! I'll miss my river days this winter! Here are a few end of summer river pictures!
Just because my boys aren't "frolicking in the river" doesn't mean they are no longer communing with nature.... no they are all now preoccupied with getting ready for HUNTING SEASON 2012! Putting up deer stands, fixing deer feeders, collecting acorns and readying the weaponry! The newest addition to our family is this long awaited truck! It is not new, rather used, but it is new to my boys and their daddy and they could not be more excited if it were brand new! They are official rednecks complete with camo seat covers and steering wheel cover.... just waiting for a gun rack to appear on the back window! Ha! I have some seriously happy boys!
So I guess it is bye bye summer and hello BUCK FEVER (we just need some cooler weather)!
