Below are my letters to the boys on their first day of school (Nate -3rd Grade; Zac - 1st Grade; and Ben - K3)!
Nate:
Today, I started my morning with a special prayer for you and your brothers that God would watch over you and you would have a special day as you started 3rd grade. I cannot believe it is your last year at Centerpoint Elementary before moving to middle school, I cannot think about that or I’ll cry! Today was a really good day because everyone seemed ready to go back to school. You were up at 6:00 this morning and dressed by 6:15… I think we were all ready to go by 7:15, which is pretty miraculous! You were a “cool cat,” so if you were nervous this morning, it wasn’t evident. We walked Zachy to his room and you kept on walking after telling dad, “bye” over your shoulder; I didn’t get one of those but that is O.K. because I know you love me. One day, I hope you will read this and know that I have been proud of you since the very beginning! I believe in you and consider it a privilege to be your mom to be able to watch you grow and change each day, month, and year. I’m hoping that you will grow and be challenged in amazing ways this year in all areas of your precious life. I love you Nate! Love, Mom
P.S. Nate, I think your first day of school went O.K. … you my man, are like your daddy, a man of few words! You said it was, “good”! You wouldn’t admit it, but I think maybe you were a little anxious and missing your old teacher and some of your buddies. Give it a few days and you will be having the time of your life!
Zachy:
Today was your first day in first grade at Centerpoint. I would never tell you this, but I was a nervous wreck! I was so afraid that you would be extra nervous going to a new school and that some tears might be involved. However, you totally surprised me little man! You looked like such a big boy walking in to your new school; the only sign that you might be a little nervous was the way your sweet hand held tightly to your daddy’s hand. You walked right in to your room and looked over and waved bye as daddy and I were telling you to have a good day from the door, then you got busy putting your stuff away. I’ve thought about you all day today and can’t wait to hear about your first day of first grade at GCS! I know that you are going to have a great day and that you will brighten everyone’s day with that cute little smile and crazy cowlick! You are special Zachy, you spread smiles and joy wherever you go. I cannot wait to see how much you are going to learn this year and I know that you are going to seem so much older on your last day of first grade. I love you Zac Attack and you are one of my greatest joys… you and your crazy bubbas! Love you little man! Love, Mom
P.S. Zac, you got in the car saying how much you LOVED school and it was great…. Then in the next breath you told me you cried that morning because maybe your eyes “got hot”! Precious boy. I know it is new and overwhelming but I know each day is going to get better and easier! When I asked who you played with at recess you said, Gracie, Jaci, and Faith…. it didn’t surprise me at all that it was you and the ladies!
Ben Ben:
I couldn’t sleep last night, I’m not sure if I was more worried about your first day of school or Zachys! Last year I had to leave you screaming and crying and it was so hard to do! So I said a special prayer for you and your brothers this morning that everything would go smoothly and that you would all have a great day. You went with us to take your brother’s to school and then when we got to your school, you grabbed your daddy’s hand and walked right in! We walked back to your room and you hung up your backpack and then honestly…. I’m not sure what happened…. I think you just marched right out and started playing with your buddies! I was in shock that there were no tears! You looked so big with your backpack this year and it seems like it is harder and harder everyday to see traces of “my little baby”! You are growing each day and you are so much like your brothers and you can do almost everything that they can do. Your little mind is a sponge and I’m so excited about all of the new things you will learn this year. I love you my precious and no matter how big you get, you will always be my baby! I love you Ben Ben! Love, Mom
P.S. I think your first ½ day wore you out. I picked up after lunch and recess and you cried because you wanted to stay with your buddies. When we got to the car and I asked how your day was, you said, “I HATE school”! Crazy boy! So I think you had a good day but you were just so tired. When you got home you went straight to bed and slept till we had to go get your bubbas!
