Back from Florida!

I'm not sure how long this post will be as two of the three boys are "in negotiations" over a firetruck and Ben is throwing his toys out of his reach and getting mad because he can't reach them... he is still showing no interest in attempting to crawl... at this point I'm thankful!
We spent a wonderful and eventful week last week in Pensacola, FL, with my parents and my sister, Rich, Molly & Matt! Before we left, we ended up visiting an emergency care clinic on Sunday in Hot Springs because Zac was running a high fever. They felt like it was his ears which were really red so they gave us an antibiotic and good wishes. We left at 4 a.m. on Monday and arrived around 2:30... the boys did excellent and I did break the law on occasion to feed a starving fussy Ben or to change a poopy while driving (not me Tim)! My Uncle Jim and Mar Mar also met us there (my mom's sister) and decided to take the boys crab hunting the first night. The big boys (Nate & Matt) had a wonderful time and on their way back to the room sweet Matthew tripped and cut his chin which resulted in a trip to the ER and stitches! Poor Matthew was so brave and tried really hard all week to keep his chin dry... not easy for a 3 year-old surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico and two fun pools!

These pics are of us waiting for it to get dark and for the sand crabs to come out! This is night #2 after Matthew got his stitches!

The next day Nate got stung by a Jellyfish which left a 6-inch stripe/bruise on his leg... he was a toughie but this definitely turned him off of the water for a day or two. The following day Zac got stung by a jellyfish... this too turned him off of the water. We think Zac had an allergic reaction to the sting but he survived just fine. All of that said, it was a wonderful few days of sun, sand, water and lots of laughs.

We got to catch up on some rest too and eat too much good seafood! It is so funny, Jen and I were talking about how growing up we would go out on the beach at 8 am and stay until 6 pm torturing ourselves to get a good tan or fry in the sun (I'm sure I will pay for this at some time). Now that we are "older" and "wiser" and with children... we are lucky if we get in 4 hours each day and we spend most of that time reapplying sunscreen to everyone, hauling children to the potty, changing diapers, and helping kiddos swim... a far cry from laying on the beach with a "jam box" listening to Def Leopard or Poison! However, it is the greatest time of my life! I also enjoyed my night walks with Jen... catching up on everything going on and reminiscing about summers past! I think the highlight of the trip for the boys (next to the pool ... j.k.) was getting to spend some extra time with daddy!

Yes, Tim obliged me and took the "beach pictures"! Aren't they a handsome crew!

Some Favorite Pictures from the week!
When we arrived home at 12:30 a.m. on Saturday... the boys were excited to see a backhoe and bulldozer parked in the driveway... we encouraged them to go back to sleep because the equipment would be there tomorrow. Thank goodness they did! We were having some work done on our driveway so the boys have enjoyed all of the excitement!
Well my boys have been about as patient as can be so I will close! Oh yeah, Nate just yelled out "we're having a blast" they are digging out toys and whatever else may be in the cusions in my couch... money, chapstick, toys... who knew!

Kara, OH. MY. GOODNESS. That was an eventful trip!! Trips to the ER. Jellyfish stings. Allergic reactions. Wow. Y'all still managed to have a great time, it seems. And, I love all the pictures. Y'all are such a beautiful family (extended family included). You look so beautiful in the pictures (you're usually behind the camera so it's nice to see ones of you). I'm glad y'all had a good trip and that everyone stayed somewhat healthy. Love you, Ab
